Public Holiday

I wonder what are public holidays to other people but to me it does not mean much. So much to do and yet with so little time. Especially during year end when deadlines are plentiful.

Well at least for the past 5 days, I did manage to catch up on some sleep (at least 10 hours a day) and watch tonnes of animes (Bleach, Gundam 00 season 2 and Linebarrels of the Iron) and TVB series (Gem of Life - is my favourite for the time being, will start posting on the blog starting with episode 49)

Yet, am still working at least 4 hours a day during my break. Sometimes I wonder, why am I working so hard to earn a living. Am i wanting too much in life?

Still pondering if I should give up on some financial security for a better quality in life. But with not enough money at hand, is there really a quality of life - short term maybe. Alternatively with not enough time and less than desirable health, what is the point of having more money?

Such are paradox in life which I am always faced with.

Life seems such a far cry from what I have envisioned it to be when I was younger. Reality is such a pain in the ass. Everyday work averaging 12 hours a day, then eat, bathe and sleep, repeat the same cycle for maybe 300 days of the year. Where are the adventures in life?

Well my life maybe predictable I at least still have a warm family to return to everyday, a loving gal friend and a supportive bunch of friends and colleagues. Who am I to complaint, anyway. Hmmm......

How to be good AH!!!

Damn tired la today, i wonder how do people like my bosses handle the kinda work load a typical auditor is faced with.

Complete the administrative work i.e. minuting, filling, photocopy, and etc

Reviewing all deliverables and working paper and make sure it is up to a myriad of standards, international auditing, international financial reporting, US GAAP,Local GAAP, companies act, securities commissions requirements, Bank Negara Malaysia submission and lots more

Ensure all field members are properly coached, motivated and directed.

Ensure client's expectation and demands are met, at least strike a middle point la

Put up a professional image even after a bad day

Deal with surprises that comes all too often that it is the norm

Be able to finish in time and yet deliver error free work (my biggest challenge now)

Multiply all those by a few folds because its almost impossible to be only doing one assignment at a time.

Not to mention other non work related things we have to face in life

Well, not complaining la, am only pondering. I am sure everyone of us here would want to not only give our best but want our best to be good enough too.I seriously think a successful auditor must really be a super man or woman or would just have to sacrifice a hell lot of other things in life. Otherwise how to have other things in life ah! If we are tasked with so many things to do in work, either be super efficient and effective or just give up on anime, karaoke, dating, family, health.....wah! the thought of it is already saddening. I wonder will anybody give up all those for the sake of being successful in this profession, therefore my conclusion is, all those who have stayed on in the firm are SUPER humans with SUPER management skills.

It's already almost six pm, I have been working for the past 6 hours. Only managed to finished a bit of everything. Logging of for dinner with family now. To be continued........

For those who simply cannot wait, i have pasted the latest update from random curiosity below

Summary:

Ali Al Saachez - whose body was half burned thanks to what happened four years ago - starts the battle by sending out a wave of GN Fangs, and Setsuna and Tieria find them faster than their predecessors. Setsuna faces his old enemy first, but after Ali’s Arche Gundam knocks the 00 Gundam away, Tieria steps up with the Seravee. After the Arche Gundam cuts off the barrels of the Seravee’s shoulder cannons, Tieria grabs his opponent and employs the beam saber hidden in his Gundam’s right leg, but Ali dodges it and counters with the beam sabers hidden in the Arche’s feet. The Arche Gundam is able to handle both Gundam coming at him at once, and while he’s got them occupied, Ali sends the GN Fangs out again to do some damage. Before he can finish them off though, the Arios and the Cherudim arrive on the scene as backup, and Ali decides not to stick around to fight in a four-versus-one battle. Tieria tries to pursue, and when Allelujah holds him back, Tieria questions why he’s being stopped from avenging Lockon. Regardless, they now know that Ali Al Saachez is still alive.

Back at the A-LAWS party, Ribbons claims that the party is spoiled thanks to Regene, but Regene points out that it was Ribbons who made Tieria angry. Regene thinks that if Ribbons had behaved himself, then they could have made Tieria into an ally, but Ribbons wants Celestial Being to oppose them. Hilling Care notes that the more Celestial Being acts, the more A-LAWS receives public support and has its actions justified, and that’s what they want. Kataron alone wasn’t a satisfactory opponent, and Hilling Care didn’t want to lose his turn for combat. Regene then changes the subject to the Twin Drive System and wonders if the Gundam equipped with two GN Drives was originally developed by Celestial Being or if it was inherited from Aeolia Schenberg like the Trans-Am system was. Ribbons doesn’t think it matters because it will still be inferior to the Gadessa, and Revive Revival will prove that in the next battle. At around this same time, Wang Liu Mei is being driven away from the party, and after she receives the news that Setsuna and the others got away safely, she looks forward to the confrontation with the Innovators accelerating change.

Also departed from the party are Andrei and Louise, and they’re now flying back to base. Louise is feeling fine again, and Andrei tells her to get some rest since they’ll be starting a Gundam pursuit operation once they return. He has read up on her past and how she lost her family to a Gundam attack, and it causes him to wonder to himself if she’s after revenge. Louise at this moment is thinking about Setsuna and his connection to Celestial Being when she sees Mr. Bushido’s custom Ahead fly by the aircraft, heading in the opposite direction. Meanwhile, on the Ptolemaios, Sumeragi decides that they should head back into space because she forecasts that the enemy will close in on them within twelve hours. Plus, if they head to Lagrange 3, they can get repairs and the Gundams’ support mecha. While preparations get under way, Setsuna tells Saji about running into Louise and their subsequent conversation. Setsuna wonders about Saji contacting her, but before Saji can answer, Lyle and Tieria show up, and Lyle is asking about the Arche Gundam and what Tieria had said earlier about avenging Lockon. Tieria thus tells Lyle about how Ali Al Saachez took Lockon’s life, and Lyle wants to hear more.

Over on the A-LAWS ship, Lindt is going over the plan to attack the Ptolemaios with six Trilobites. Since Kati places importance on air superiority, Lindt thinks that two squads of mobile suits will be enough since he doubts that their enemy will leave the sea. Revive Revival, however, points out that the enemy ship was able to enter the atmosphere and descend to Earth, so the reverse may also be possible. Kati agrees and notes the possible use of the Trans-Am system. Lindt gets angry because he thinks he’s being ridiculed after Revive Revival suggests that the enemy commander might already have figured out their orthodox strategy, but Revive Revival claims that he has a license. Since this is similar to Mr. Bushido, Kati questions if Revive Revival is also a one-man army, so he replies that he’s different and promises to follow her orders. Back on the Ptolemaios, Tieria finishes filling Lyle in on how his brother was trying to avenge his family by going after Ali Al Saachez. Lyle respects his brother and admits that he can’t obsess on something that happened over ten years ago like that.

In response, Setsuna questions if that’s true even if the enemy were right there, and he goes on to admit how he was a member of the KPSA. He reveals that one of his comrades at the time was the very person who blew himself up in the attack that claimed the lives of the Dylandy family, and he feels that if he had stopped his friend, then Neil wouldn’t have become a Gundam Meister. Lyle, however, knows that even if that had happened, the act of terrorism would have still occurred. He feels that it’s all past now, and they’re fighting for the future, not the past. After hearing this, Tieria thinks about living according to one’s own justice, but he questions if opposing the Innovators will lead to the true future. By now, Mr. Bushido has arrived at Billy’s lab and after the two get reacquainted, Mr. Bushido asks that the mobile suit being developed be dyed in his colors. Specifically, he requests that it have the fastest speed and the strongest sword. Billy agrees in exchange for Mr. Bushido taking down Celestial Being, and Mr. Bushido explains that that’s the only reason he keeps living.

The A-LAWS forces meanwhile have started mobilizing for their attack operation. Unaware of what’s coming, Tieria is in one of the Ptolemaios’ observation rooms and still hasn’t reported on what happened at the party to Sumeragi. Since Tieria claims that he’s gathering his thoughts, Setsuna asks him to continue what he was saying earlier about the distortion he found. Tieria’s thoughts are clouded by what Regene and Lockon have told him, and before he can explain anything to Setsuna, the ship’s alarms go off to warn of the impending attack. As Tieria and Setsuna rush to their Gundams, Sumeragi has the ship start rising to the water surface, and when the enemy fires a wave of torpedoes, she has the Arios, the Seravee, and the Cherudim activate their Trans-Am systems. This gives the Ptolemaios a similar effect and, along with the force of the torpedo explosions, allows it to speed up through the water and into the air, past the enemy mobile suits. When those units try to pursue, the ship launches a wave of missiles that takes out several of them, though Patrick and Louise both survive.

As the Ptolemaios breaks through the atmosphere, it’s hit by a massive shot from the waiting Gadessa. Although the ship is fine, the force of the blast changes the ship’s trajectory, and Sumeragi quickly realizes how good the enemy commander is. Kati knows that the Trans-Am system has a time limit, and she has an A-LAWS unit waiting in space. That unit attacks right as the Trans-Am system reaches its limit, and this leaves the Ptolemaios vulnerable to enemy fire. Fortunately, Sumeragi had anticipated this and had sent the 00 Gundam out earlier, and it obliterates the A-LAWS cruiser. The remaining A-LAWS mobile suits retreat as a result of this, though one of them first passes along a message to the Ptolemaios. The message is from Kati to Sumeragi - referred to as Leesa Kujo - and in it, Kati expresses her respect for Sumeragi’s tactics. This triggers memories in Sumeragi of her past and how she had known Kati, and she’s not happy to find out that Kati is in A-LAWS. It leaves her feeling that she can’t run away from her past.

Back on Earth, after learning of the death of the commander of the A-LAWS cruiser that got destroyed, Homer Katagiri feels that he can’t allow any more sacrifices and will need the help of the Innovators. Ian meanwhile is being led to the 0 Raizer by his wife Linda, and he thinks that the 00 Gundam will be invincible with it.

Well that was certainly an exciting episode. The battle with Ali Al Saachez was pretty intense - particularly when Tieria was going up against him - though still rather short since Lyle and Allelujah came to the rescue pretty quickly. The Arche Gundam appears a little overpowered at the moment, but that’s not accounting for the improvements/power-ups that I’m sure the Celestial Being Gundams will eventually receive. We’ve already been introduced here to the 0 Raizer which will probably make the 00 Gundam the king of the battlefield for a few episodes. I’m sure it won’t be invincible like Ian thinks it will though - the new unit Billy is developing for Mr. Bushido will probably be better or at least on equal footing. And speaking of new units, the preview features another new one. It’s in the same style as the Gadessa which implies that it’s an Innovator’s - probably Hilling Care’s.

As for the characters, I think one of the interesting relationships that’s developed in this episode is the one between Kati and Sumeragi. There’s obviously a lot of respect coming from Kati, and I suspect either one of them will die in the end (a la Natarle and Murrue from SEED) or they’ll be reunited as friends or something. In addition, I wonder if there’s more dark secret stuff aside from Emilio’s death in Sumeragi’s past that we don’t know about yet. This episode also introduced Ian’s wife Linda (in other words, Mileina didn’t just pop out of nowhere), and she looks to be joining the crew new week. Why do I get the feeling that she’s going to meet a tragic end… She looks too nice, and I don’t think that there’s necessarily room for her on the crew. Perhaps more importantly though, who is this person in a Celestial Being uniform, and why does his/her hair color look like an Innovator’s? It’s very suspicious, and my immediate reaction was that it was a spy or infiltrator sent by Ribbons.

Summary:

Regene Regetta telepathically explains to Tieria that with GN particles as a catalyst, they can directly link with Veda due to quantum brain waves, and their age is controlled via genetic manipulation and nanomachines. He claims that they are necessary to Aeolia Schenberg’s plan, and he laughs at how Tieria has been kept in the dark about all this. Since Tieria doesn’t know, Regene reveals that the first stage of the plan was to unite the world with Celestial Being’s interventions, the second stage is to unify mankind’s will with A-LAWS, and the third stage is to advance mankind in outer space. They who are adapted to the space environment will lead mankind to a new frontier. Meanwhile, back on the Ptolemaios, Ian isn’t happy with all the damage to the Arios and with how Allelujah brought back a girl. That latter part has Saji feeling a bit lonely, which he admits to one of the Haros as he stares at the ring around his neck. Tieria has returned back to the ship by this point, but the encounter with Regene sticks in his mind. Regene had claimed that a big wave of change is needed to lead mankind to the next stage, and he called Celestial Being an obstacle in the way of Aeolia’s plan. He explained that they were created for the plan, and their raison d’être is to carry out and complete it, so what Tieria is doing is denying his own existence.

Regene had then proposed guiding mankind together as Innovators, and he knew that he and Tieria would see each other again because they’re always connected. Unsure of what path he should take now, Tieria suddenly hears the old Lockon telling him to not cast himself in that way and to be hell-bent on what he feels. Lockon also points out that they were entrusted with the Gundams by Aeolia. Elsewhere on the Ptolemaios, Allelujah and Marie run into Feldt who still holds a grudge against Marie for what she did as Soma Peries. Feldt can still remember all the people they lost, including Lockon, and even though she knows that it wasn’t Marie’s fault, it doesn’t change the way she feels. Allelujah later goes to see Feldt privately, and he understands how she feels because they’re family. Over on the A-LAWS ship, Louise requests that Kati let her have Soma’s custom Ahead. Kati refuses, however Lindt thinks that it’s okay and then gives Louise a special mission. Lindt instructs her to take along Andrei as an escort, and when Kati objects to losing two pilots at a time like this, Lindt reveals that arrangements have been made for new pilots and a new mobile suit that surpasses the Ahead. Revive Revival is the pilot of this new unit, and with him arrives none other than Patrick Colasour. Patrick tells Kati that he volunteered for A-LAWS because he wants to protect her, and he’s not afraid of fighting the Gundams and dying because of how he’s fought them so much in the past that he’s earned the nickname “The Immortal Colasour.”

At around this same time, the Federation holds a press conference on the reorganization of the Middle East which includes plans to migrate certain factions involved in domestic conflicts to colonies. Sumeragi knows that the public will accept this because the Federation economy is good and living standards are improving. Setsuna, however, feels that this kind of world isn’t right when there are people who are arbitrarily losing their lives. The group then gets a call from Wang Liu Mei informing them that the higher-ups of A-LAWS will be attending a special party put on by the business community. Tieria insists on participating, so Setsuna volunteers to be backup, and since their identities might already be known, Sumeragi crafts a plan. What they don’t realize is that Regene Regetta was with Wang Liu Mei all along. While the others are preparing, Feldt goes to see Marie to apologize, and Marie understands how important everyone is to her. Ian meanwhile finishes with repairs and heads back up into space to work on two new support units and the Twin Drive. Included is something called the 0 Raizer which will allow the 00 Gundam to surpass any existing Gundam.

At the big party, Wang Liu Mei arrives and recognizes Tieria who came dressed as a woman. Tieria has already identified Homer Katagiri - who is accompanied by Billy - but he knows that someone else is actually in charge of everything. Upstairs at the party, Ribbons meets privately with Louise, and when she asks why she’s there, he points out that she’s the largest investor in A-LAWS as the head of the Halevy family. He notes that the people here endeavor for permanent peace in a unified world, so their cooperation is necessary, but Ribbons is okay with Louise leaving after greeting everyone. He also reveals that he’s arranged for her to get Soma’s Ahead. After meeting with Louise, Ribbons heads downstairs, introduces himself to the disguised Tieria, and they dance together. When Ribbons comments on how he didn’t think that Tieria would appear in such a way, Tieria explains that he’s only following his tactical forecaster’s instructions. Tieria then brings up Regene Regetta, and although Ribbons denies sending him, this does lead to him offering to give Tieria back access rights to Veda. Tieria takes this a sign that Ribbons has control over Veda, and once the dance ends, Ribbons leads Tieria back upstairs to talk about it.

Outside, Louise is about to leave the party but she experiences a certain reaction and then notices Setsuna waiting by one of the cars. She still remembers who he is, and when she asks him why he’s here, he claims that it’s for work related to the orbital elevator. Louise also asks about how Saji is doing, so Setsuna reveals that he had met Saji again by chance and that Saji was working at a colony. Hearing that Saji is in space, Louise realizes that he fulfilled his dream, and she plays with the ring on her left hand. Setsuna notices that her exposed left arm has some scar-like markings on them, and he remembers what Saji had said about the person he loved being hurt. He decides to tell Louise that he had felt that Saji still loved her, but before he can finish his sentence, she experiences a painful headache. Billy happens to be nearby and comes running to help, but when he hears Setsuna’s voice, he realizes who Setsuna is and calls the guards. Tieria meanwhile is questioning Ribbons about controlling Veda, but Ribbons thinks that Tieria should remember. This causes Tieria to realize that Ribbons was the one who had turned off the Trial System during the fight with the Gundam Thrones and was also the one who gave the pseudo-GN drives to the United Nations.

Ribbons explains that the annihilation of Celestial Being was part of the plan, so they should have been destroyed four years ago. Tieria refuses to believe this because he knows that they were entrusted with the Gundams, the GN Drives, and the Trans Am system by Aeolia Schenberg. He decides that Ribbons and the Innovators are mistaken, and he declares that he’ll follow the path that he believes in. This prompts Ribbons to comment on how Tieria is influenced by humans and trusted Lockon too much. All of this infuriates Tieria, and he pulls out his hidden gun, but it gets shot out of his hand by the Innovator named Hilling Care. This leaves Tieria no choice but to jump out of the window to escape. Watching all this from a distance is Regene Regetta, and he notes that although Aeolia Schenberg developed a three-stage plan, he was fixated on the war eradication of the first stage. Both Regene Regetta and Wang Liu Mei feel that, regardless if this is Ribbons’ plan or Celestial Being’s idea, the world will change. Setsuna and Tieria meanwhile both escape the site in their Gundams, and Setsuna apologizes for his mistake. Tieria, however, feels that he’s now found the distortion of the world, and he vows to destroy it with the Gundams. All this is interrupted by the sudden appearance of Ali Al Saachez in his red Gundam, and he’s ready to fight.

Well, all this focus on Aeolia Schenberg’s plan wasn’t what I had in mind when I thought they were going to examine Tieria’s backstory, but it works. If Regene Regetta is to be believed, Aeolia Schenberg had some lofty and perhaps noble goals, but he didn’t plan things out perfectly and had some faults. I’m not sure I entirely trust Regene Regetta’s assessment though, and with the way he was talking, part of me suspects that he could end up being the “final boss” character instead of Ribbons. Regardless, it looks like for the time being that this will be a struggle between the Innovators wanting to change the world so that they can complete Aeolia Schenberg’s plan versus the Gundams trying to stop them and A-LAWS. The question I have is what the cost of that will be since, as Sumeragi noted, the majority of people seem to be fairly happy with the current system, and toppling A-LAWS will likely change that. Plus, the basic goal of advancing further into space isn’t such a bad one.

The other story this week was Louise and her involvement in all this. It appears that she was the one funding the mobile suit development after all (not Wang Liu Mei as I originally suspected), though you’d think that with that kind of money, she’d be able to secure her own custom mobile suit instead of taking Soma’s old one. She also seems to experience the same things that the super-soldiers did - the headaches and the Newtype-style senses - and some treatment related to the super-soldier program is probably how she got her left arm back. Speaking of which, she’s apparently still wearing the ring, and hearing about Saji likely starts the path to getting them reunited. It’s not clear however if Setsuna figured out that she’s in A-LAWS.

Patrick and Ali Al Saachez also showed up this week, though only briefly. The former’s nickname made me wonder what the odds are of him surviving another series worth of facing off against Gundams, and the latter I hope will stick around longer this time than he did a few episodes ago. Fortunately, the preview indicates that there’ll at least be a Gundam fight with him next week. Oh and as for Tieria, I would say that him thinking of Lockon all the time and then dressing up as a girl means something, but I’ll leave that to the fanfic writers and fan artists. :)

Sunday Blues (Part 2)

It's 4:30pm, Sunday, can't believe i have just spent 3 hours working in office. Almost done with the things i have targeted to complete.

My eyes are hurting now, probably due to too much time spent in front of the computer.

I must really find a day to just chill and not expose myself to any thing that comes with a LCD screen.

30 more minutes before i leave for Mid Valley for tonight's plan.

Sunday Blues

It's Sunday. I just got back from Genting FIR concert and now have no choice but to catch up on my left over yesterday.

Concert was Great, no regrets for impulsively making the decision to travel up hill with Kok Seng. Also made a bit of money courtesy of "Uncle Lim" and was glad to be there for many of Kok Seng's first.

  • His first driving experience to Genting - he seemed so excited all the way
  • His first concert - we were sitting 7 rows from the stage and he was shouting and jumping occassionally, not bad for his first experience.
Now back to work, I actually like what i am doing but sometimes i just feel like i am trapped in a prison of never ending work. Sometimes sleep thinking of work, eat thinking of work just work work work and work most of the time. Work life balance seems so far away and the last time i have taken more than a week annual leave to chill was so distant.

Going to office now

Is the economy really in recession?

Everyday we see headlines signaling a times are bad and recession are imminent. Prices are starting to fall and people are losing jobs. I wonder, how have this impacted the common folks like you and me?

Shopping malls are still filled with people during the weekend.

My friends are still spending as they used to be.

The casino are still packed with gamblers trying to make a quick buck.

I certainly don't see any of my friends or people i know losing their jobs yet.

The only indication i see is that the share market has dropped by almost 40%.

Our prices of our key exports i.e. crude oil and palm oil has fallen by more than 50%.

Order for electronics have been dwinding over the past few weeks.

But yet, i have yet to feel the impact, at least for now and i do not forsee any impact in the near future.

Hmmm, then why is there a common perception that we are heading for bad times? How has the recent development in the economy impacted you?
